The California
Artificial Intelligence
Transparency Act
(CAITA)
creates a first of its kind protection for consumers from AI.
This pioneering legislation takes a two-pronged approach:
First it will require large generative AI companies to put identifiers on and within their content.
Second, it will create a free, public platform for consumers to ask these companies whether or not content was created by AI.
It further empowers the Attorney General of California to fine a company that is not in compliance up to $5,000 per day per infraction to ensure that consumer’s privacy rights are upheld.
